Injecting Alerts into Published Courses

Alerts are the simplest CourseSignal modal type. Use them to display important notices to learners without touching your course files.

When to Use Alerts

  • Deadline reminders — "This course must be completed by March 15"
  • Content corrections — "The policy number on slide 5 has been updated to X"
  • System notices — "The system will be down for maintenance Saturday"
  • Schedule changes — "The live session has moved to Thursday at 2pm"

Creating an Alert

  1. Open your course in the CourseSignal dashboard
  2. Click Create Modal and select Alert
  3. Write your alert message — keep it short and clear
  4. Choose a template or customize the appearance
  5. Set scheduling (see below)
  6. Click Deploy

Smart Scheduling

CourseSignal offers three scheduling modes:

  • Immediate — Shows as soon as the course loads
  • Timed Delay — Display after a specific time interval
  • Inactivity — Triggers when the learner goes idle

Cost

Alerts are Simple Modals: 100 Sparks per modal view. Testing is free, so preview your alert before deploying.
