How to Translate a SCORM Course

Course Translator lets you translate published Adobe Captivate courses into 30+ languages in minutes. Here is how to do it step by step.

Before You Start

  • You need a published Captivate course as a ZIP file (the output you get from Captivate when you publish for web/LMS).
  • Make sure you have enough Sparks in your account. Pricing depends on word count: Small (<5,000 words) costs 1,000 Sparks, Medium (5,000-25,000 words) costs 3,000 Sparks, Large (25,000+ words) costs 6,000 Sparks.

Step 1: Upload Your Course

Go to Course Translator and click New Translation in the top navigation bar. You will see a file upload area. Drag and drop your Captivate ZIP file, or click to browse for it.

Step 2: Pick Your Target Languages

After uploading, select one or more target languages. You can pick as many as you need — the tool creates a single output ZIP that includes all selected languages along with a built-in language picker for learners.

Step 3: Process

Click Start Translation. The system extracts all text content from your course, translates it using AI, runs integrity checks on placeholders and HTML tags, and injects a language picker so learners can switch languages at launch. You will see a real-time progress bar.

Step 4: Download

When processing is complete, click Download to get your translated course ZIP. This single ZIP file serves all languages from one course package — no need to maintain separate Captivate project files per language.

What Gets Translated

  • All DraftJS text blocks (body text, headings)
  • Labels and UI strings
  • Metadata (course title, descriptions)

What Stays the Same

  • Course layout and structure
  • Images (unless they contain text baked into the image)
  • Interactions and logic
  • Audio (not translated — you would need to re-record narration separately)

Tip: After downloading, test the translated course in your LMS or by opening it locally to verify the language picker works and translations read naturally.
